House Rules & Terms — The 10 Towers
The deal, in plain words
The 10 Towers is a free, non-commercial revival of a 1990s text game. Come play, explore,
and hang out. A few house rules keep it good for everyone:
- Be decent. No harassment, hate, threats, or targeting other players.
- Nothing illegal. Don't post or share illegal content. This is a hard line — illegal
material is removed and may be reported to the authorities.
- It's a game. Chatting on the public channels is part of the fun — enjoy it. Just
don't use the place purely as a bullhorn: no spam, no flooding, no advertising.
- Play fair. No cheating, exploiting bugs, botting, or attacking the server or other
players. Found a bug? Tell us instead of abusing it — that's genuinely appreciated.
- One you, roughly. Don't create accounts to evade a ban or impersonate someone.
See something wrong? The quickest way is right there in the game: type
complain <player> <what happened> (also spelled abusereport) and it goes straight to the
moderators. For illegal content specifically — or if you're not in the game — use the
reporting contact below. Either way, we read reports.
What happens if rules are broken. Depending on severity: a quiet word, a temporary
mute, a freeze, or a ban. Most of this is handled quickly and proportionately; serious or
illegal stuff is acted on immediately. We aim to be fair, not trigger-happy.
The usual caveats. It's a hobby project provided "as is" — we can't promise it's always
up, bug-free, or that your character is immortal. Be kind about that; we're doing this for
love of the game.
Reporting illegal content (the formal bit)
For in-game abuse or harassment, the fastest route is the in-game complain command
(above) — it reaches the moderators directly. This formal channel is for illegal
content, and is open to anyone, player or not:
Email joost@damad.be with "report" in the subject.
Tell us what and where; we'll review promptly, remove anything illegal, and let you know
the outcome. (This is our EU Digital Services Act notice-and-action contact and
process.)
The small print (kept small)
- Who runs this: Joost Yervante Damad (Belgium), a non-commercial project — contact joost@damad.be (same as the privacy notice).
- Your data: handled per our Privacy Notice — short version: the live game shows no
real personal details unless you choose to restore them. Please read it.
- Moderation uses some data: to keep the game safe we look at public-channel activity
and behaviour patterns (not your private messages) — see the Privacy Notice.
- Changes: if these rules change we'll update this page and its date.
- Complaints: talk to us first; you can also contact the Belgian data-protection
authority (details in the Privacy Notice).
